Child Rights and You (CRY) is dedicated to fostering sustainable change for India's children through its national campaign, Poori Padhai. Launched in 2021 and revitalized in June 2024, this initiative combats educational disparities by actively working to reintegrate out-of-school girls back into the education system. With 102 project partners across 19 states, Poori Padhai leverages community engagement, digital learning, and awareness campaigns to create substantial impact.
Despite the potential to boost India's GDP by $770 billion by 2025 through female educational completion, societal norms, child marriage, and inadequate school infrastructure contribute to only 3 out of 5 girls in India reaching higher secondary education. These barriers not only hinder personal growth but also perpetuate cycles of poverty and limit national progress. The dropout rate is alarmingly high, with many girls forced to abandon education prematurely.
CRY’s Poori Padhai campaign aims to enroll 73,000 girls nationally to complete their higher secondary education. This will be achieved through comprehensive strategies including door-to-door enrolment drives, advocacy against child marriage, information dissemination on government schemes, and empowerment through collectives. The campaign requires a significant investment in communication materials, with a national budget of over 50 lakhs, to ensure the message reaches and resonates with a wide audience. Your support can directly contribute to building a future where every girl in India has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
